Alcohol Awareness

In class, a group did their microteaching on alcohol awareness. From their lesson, I learned just how difficult it can be to teach certain topics and just how much thought needs to be put into a lesson plan. As they did their lesson, I kept thinking about how to balance teaching teens about the effects of alcohol without sparking their curiosity to try it. I think the most important message to teach students about alcohol is to make smart decisions with the information given to them. Most likely, things they hear in school about alcohol aren't going to affect whether or not they drink, but perhaps it will cause them to avoid dangerous situations by being informed.
